Field Engineering Technician

Job Description

Install, maintain and repair the P25, NetworkFirst, OpenSky and EDACS Conventional and Trunked Radio Systems. Install, program, troubleshoot and repair mobile radios, consoles and peripherals. Install, troubleshoot and repair analog and digital microwave systems. Read and interpret schematics and manuals. Perform preventative maintenanceinspections and correct deficiencies. Accomplish maintenance documentation. Maintain and update EDACS Communications System Director. Resolve customer complaints. Consult customers on system modifications and enhancements. Plan and implement system modifications and enhancements. Train customers on the proper operation of the system and peripherals. Maintain and operate company owned vehicle.

Job Requirements
Technical school graduate with a minimum of 4 years experience in the field of electronics. Holder of FCC General License or equivalent certification. Must be skilled in microwave operation and maintenance. Experience installing and maintaining commercial two-way conventional and trunked radio systems and experience with IP technology and networking systems is highly desirable. Demonstrated mechanical ability and proficiency in the use of hand tools. Understanding of basic electronic concepts and ability to read schematics and other complex technical drawings. Familiarity with all tools and test equipment associated with the installation, testing and troubleshooting of radio systems. Familiarity with computers and job specific software. Ability to life 60 lbs and move heavy equipment. Must possess a valid drivers license and maintain a good driving record. Capable of and willing to submit to a Top Secret security check. Frequent local travel required within the Metro DC area. Strong computer skills required.
