Area Sales Manager
Job Description
Sales professional to represent and manage all aspects of sales within TX. This individual will develop a sales plan and strategy to achieve the objectives. He/She will work very closely with both internal and external resources to ensure that this is accomplished. More specifically, this individual will work closely with government relations, lobbyists, project director (or designee), engineering, etc. It is essential that these communication and relationships be effectively established and executed to achieve success. He/She will be responsible for ensuring that the sales team (both direct and indirect) is functioning in coordination with the sales plan and the appropriate project resources. He/She will be the sales representative for all required state meetings, liaison/outreach efforts and provide direction for liaison and sales initiatives. The position requires 40% overnight travel in territory with periods of week long absences when preparing bid responses or attending shows and seminar.
Job Requirements
Sales/business development professional to represent and manage all aspects of sales within TX with a minimum 7 years of sales experience in technology sales to large government entities. Familiarity with state operation, procurement practices, and politics strongly desired. Bachelor’s degree, masters preferred. Experience working in state government a plus. Must have very strong communications skills and be able to communicate effectively to all levels of government and management.
